Clear Cache & Cookies
Open Safari.
In the top menu bar, click Safari.
Select Settings (or Preferences on older macOS versions).
Click the Privacy tab.
Select Manage Website Data….
A new window will pop up showing stored cookies and cached data.
Click Remove All.
Confirm by selecting Remove Now to clear all data.
Close Safari completely and reopen it to ensure the changes take effect.
Remove Malicious Browser Extensions
Open Safari.
In the top menu bar, click Safari.
Select Settings (or Preferences).
Click the Extensions tab.
Look through the list of installed extensions.
Malicious or unwanted extensions may have strange names, you don’t remember installing them, or show unusual behavior (pop-ups, redirects, ads).
Select the suspicious extension.
Click Uninstall (or Turn Off if uninstalling isn’t available).
Follow any additional prompts to remove the extension.
Close Safari completely and reopen it to make sure the changes take effect.
Uninstall Suspicious Programs
Open Finder.
Click Applications.
Look for unfamiliar or suspicious apps. These may look like counterfeit versions of apps you already have installed, or apps you did not authorize to be installed.
Right-click the suspicious application.
Select Move to Trash.
Empty the Trash.
If prompted for your Mac password, enter it to confirm removal.
Scan for Malware
Use TotalAV to scan and help remove any malware that may still be present on your device.
